We went to a couple of restaurants that I've not been to or heard of before like - Portland City Grill , Pasta Pastaria and my most favorite place they took me to ~ Bread and Ink Cafe. Yummy!!
When we left to go have breakfast that morning there was no mention on WHERE we were going. There had been talks about several places to go, but no decision had been made. The three of us got into the car and my cousin started driving. At first I thought she was going to see a friend or maybe stop at a store on the way to breakfast.
The drive to Bread and Ink Cafe made me think of the song/poem ~ "Over the river and through the woods to grandmother's house we go!"
Bread and Ink Cafe is in the Hawthorne district of East Portland. They are located on the corner of Hawthorne and SE 36th Street.

She giggled and told me -"No, that's the Waffle Window."
The Waffle Window is on the right side of the Bread and Ink Cafe building. When you walk into Bread and Ink Cafe and look immediately to the right you will see a small seating /dining area for the Waffle Window.
WE, however were waiting to be seated on the left side at Bread and Ink Cafe.
They have a good selection for hot beverages. I was told I need to learn how to drink coffee beverages. LOL... I don't drink coffee. Have never acquired a taste for it. But I LOVE chai latte's and hot chocolate!
After we ordered our beverages, we started looking at the menu. Ok, let's be real ~ we had been standing for 30 minutes watching food come out and people eating!! We were glued to the menu to decide what to have.
Omelette's , pancakes, waffles and more ~ OH MY!!
After studying the menu for a good 5-10 minutes we were ready to order. YAY!!!

My ordered was the spinach, mushroom, ham and cheese omelet with a side of spicy polenta.
My cousin ordered the omelet minus the ham and had the crispy hash browns. We also decided to share the blueberry pancake topped with blueberry cinnamon compote.
WE WERE IN FOOD HEAVEN!!!!
Word of caution!!! Get there early, parking is street parking and difficult to find during peak dining times and the wait can be at least 30 minutes or longer! BUT ~ is SO WORTH the wait!!
I can't wait for another visit with the girls and go back to Bread and Ink Cafe to try other items on their menu and try other places like Tasty N Sons!!
And remember...........

Sounds like a great place. I'm hoping to visit Portland later this year and hopefully will get to stop off there.
ReplyDeleteFil, that's awesome! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! It's really worth the stop. If you're also looking for a fun happy hour place, you should for sure check out Portland City Grill. The happy hour menu and drinks are great and the view is spectacular!
