Needless to say I was not a happy girl about this. I rolled my window down and yelled at the guys asking them why they didn't put the cones before the round about or to put a sign at the light letting people know that there are workers ahead!!! The guys were not too sure about how to react or deal with me. (evil giggle)
Well, I turned to go back through the round about as did about 3 other cars behind me, all with their hands up in the air with the "WTH?" gesture. I went around and took a different street to the next light when a building with bright blue umbrellas caught my eye.
No one was behind me so I got my iPhone out and pressed the button for Siri. Siri and I have not been the best of friends. When I first got my phone, someone asked her 15 questions in a row and her last response to him was " Don't you have anything better to do than ask me these questions?"
GREAT!!! Make my new phone mad at me!!
So, I changed from the US Siri and have been using the UK Siri English. He's been very nice to me but, he has a bit of difficulty with American accents. Anyway - I changed back to the original Siri. She has been very pleasant lately and I was able to tell her to remind me to Google - Dottie's True Blue Cafe. After she set my appointment, I thanked her and she said "That was very nice of you to say." I almost spit out my chai latte. LOL...
Sadly Siri didn't remind me, though she had it in my reminders. But didn't alert me like she said she would. (sigh)
I remembered a few hours later to Google Dottie's....
Dottie's True Blue Cafe is originally from San Francisco, CA and they just recently moved to a new location in San Francisco on Jan 20th of this year. They are now located at 28 6th Street.
There is now a new location in Scottsdale , AZ and it has been open for about 3 weeks now.
They are located on the corner of 3rd Ave and Marshall Way in Old Town.
The next day I told the guys at the office that we were going to try a new place for lunch. They were game for it. (thank you guys!!)
Of course I needed to have them go with me so I would have more than one picture to share... lol
It was a nice sunny afternoon and a nice stroll from the office.
There's about 12 tables on their patio that seats 4.
When we arrived we went inside to see the hostess and she asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside. We opted to sit outside since the weather was nice.
Once we were seated and our beverage order was taken, we studied the menu. When the waiter came back with our beverages he let us know that we could also get breakfast all day long. WHAT?!
YES, breakfast is served all day long.
Now, I must warn you in advance. For those that have never been to a Dottie's, the menu can be a bit overwhelming. And if you're anything like me, too many options leads to me changing my mind several times before it's my turn to order....lol
They have about 16 options for breakfast and options within that. They have vegetarian options, burgers, quesadillas and sandwiches. Once I decided what I wanted for lunch, I got up and walked around while the guys were still deciding.

When you walk up to Dottie's it can be a bit confusing as it has two sides. To the left is the restaurant where the hostess is.

The inside of the restaurant looks very warm and inviting and has plenty of seating.
They have oldies music softly playing on the patio and inside the internet cafe and the restaurant.

The internet cafe reminded me of the diners / cafes of old. It has high top chairs and the pastry display sitting on top of the counter. They also have high top tables around the room as well.
When I returned from photo snapping the waiter had came back to take our order. We all placed our order and waited. And waited,,,. And waited.,,,
Kyle's sandwich came out first.
Kyle's grilled gruyere & caramelized onion sandwich with bacon and tomato sandwich with a side salad.
The waiter told Todd that they did not have eggplants for his grilled eggplant and goat cheese sandwich so he opted for a different one.
Next to appear was Brian's BLT sandwich with home fries.
The waiter apologized for the delay and told us the rest of the food was on the way.
Todd and I waited while Kyle and Brian ate their sandwiches......(tears...need food!)
Mine appeared next. YAY!!!
I ordered the prosciutto, basil, balsamic
roasted tomato and red pepper flake scramble
with wheat toast and home fries.
The scramble had a nice kick though needed
a bit of salt as did the home fries. The wheat
toast is huge and heavy but was really good.
We teased Todd and told him that they had to
go to the farm to harvest his veggies for his
sandwich. (sorry Todd!)
Todd's sandwich finally appeared.
He had the hummus, grilled zucchini and roasted
red peppers on toasted whole wheat. (they did
forget to toast his bread)
We all but Todd liked our food. Todd really waned the grilled eggplant and goat cheese sandwich
and it was a bit of wait to get our food as well as the food all coming out at different times.
BUT ~ keep in mind that they've only been open for three weeks. I think within the next month they
should have the place running like a well oiled machine. They'll need to.
Dottie's in SFO is a popular place as people line up and wait for an hour to get food and when the
word gets out that there is a Dottie's now in Scottsdale, I'm sure their business will pick up.
I want to go back and try the vegetarian black bean chili topped with cheese (minus the green onions)
and served with grilled chili-cheddar corn bread as seen in the video below!! Looks yummy!
